We are passionate about outdoor recreation and reducing barriers for people with disabilities to access natural spaces, so we designed a FREE day to celebrate just that!

Relais Plein Air Equipment Demos
Bowhead Reach Demos*
Not only will the NCC be on hand to demonstrate how the mapping tool works, but Relais Plein Air will be joining us with a selection of their outdoor adaptive equipment for people to try! Our Bowhead Reach will also be hanging out if you’re curious to learn more or give it a quick spin. We will have the standard handlebars (traditional bike controls) installed on the bike in the morning and then switch to the quad controls for the afternoon.
At our event we will have certified coaches and many volunteers on hand to help everyone have an enjoyable day on the trails.
* Bowhead Reach Demos
10am - 12pm Bowhead Reach, standard handlebars
1pm - 3pm Bowhead Reach with quad controls
To try the Bowhead, email us at candosocietyontario@gmail.com
If you have your own helmet and/or active grips please bring them.
Fill out this INSURANCE FORM (form will also be available at the event)
Check out the NCC Greenbelt Trail 31 where we will be exploring loops 1 and 2 (detailed mapping info here). The trails are at least 3m wide and are made of hardpacked stonedust and soil. There are minimal roots or rocks along the trail, and it is quite flat. There are three avoidable short hills (all under 5m in length) with slopes ranging from 4% - 9.4% (for context, a ramp built to code is 8.3%).
The site is accessible by both active and public transportation and there is ample free parking. Accessible washrooms, drinking water and a canteen are located inside the Nepean Sportsplex. ParaTranspo dropoff / pickup at Entrance 3 – West side of the building.
We welcome anyone who might be at risk of being excluded from a regular activity, regardless of disability or age. We welcome people with temporary disabilities as well. Even if you don't have a disability, you can take advantage of this opportunity to increase awareness of trail accessibility.
Everybody deserves access to nature!
